Today Kaori Lau and Neesha B came to speak to us today about Inclusion within the classroom. We stared by talking about identity through an activity that highlighted a personal trait you have and how it connects back to teaching. I had talked about my struggle with claiming my own identity when I am incredibly white passing before to classmates and friends but today I decided to keep it to myself.
I really enjoyed their talk and points about access, I often think having access to everything as able-bodied persons is overlooked and often taken for granted. Something I am always thinking about when planning a lesson is “how can I make this the most accessible for everyone” and most of the time technology is excluded from this talk because of cost or logistics or simplicity. Kaori and Neesha helped me see that it is a way for students to connect better, and for students with certain disadvantages it can be crucial.
Below I want to share a medically reviewed article for children with cerebral palsy and tips for inclusive classrooms. Many of the tips in the article align with what our talk was about.

Multimedia has a special place in my heart because of how human it is. I say that because when I picture the most human art I picture scraping whatever is there to make beauty, and often I find myself using many different things around me to create and shape my art. My focus for this canvas is primarily to fill out the thinner areas with different medias. I have acrylic and oil paint, in many different forms here.
I love the way some different kinds of spray overlap on each other. I have these oil sprays and these acrylic sprays I have been putting over each other to see the effects and so far I’ve liked it. I want to explore this media more and you will probably see another log showcasing a canvas with it as its focus.
This canvas is not done. I will finish it up and post it to my blog here. Next post will include a canvas that is also not finished that I will figure out.

During this class we had Rich McCue come to speak to us, and he shared with us some of his tools for video editing.
What I enjoyed about this session was how we took a deep dive into video editing software like IMovie and editied clips of our own.
Below I have attached my clip, and although it may seem chaotic, this clip allowed me to mess around on IMovie and learn the ideas and tools that Rich shared with us. This clip shows the capability that is in my hands to create meaningful edits within clips, The application of this ability extends beyond my professional career and into my everyday toolset. Within this age of screen it is always welcome to have another tool to deal with it.
When looking back on this class I remember how stoked I was to work with this software. I had messed around before in the past when me and my friends would make movies for school projects so I felt I had a knack for this sorta stuff. I remember laughing with my classmates as we explored the clips we had edited.
I really wanted to share mine in the hopes that it would make my classmates smile, and after uploading it to the cloud file we were able to get it up and running. Although in hindsight I feel a tad embarrassed by the actual result I am glad I shared. I would rather embarrass myself a bit than sit with something I’d wanna share. Going forward I have the ability to not embarrass myself by making something with the same amount of editing skill just maybe not as silly. Perhaps on this website!!!
I wanna extend a Thank You! out to Rich and his passionate talk he was a very good speaker and it was very engaging to have him in.
After this class I walked home and enjoyed my Tuesday by tidying up and watching ozarks with my partner. I was listening to “Bad Scene, Aaron’s Fault” from the O Pioneers and Bomb the Music Industry split EP. Thank you to my guitarist and singer Ben Mason for showing me that song I listen to it often
This semester I am tasked with creating a personal learning plan and documenting my process on this website.
Through the use of free inquiry learning I will take a deeper look into painting, specifically putting art onto a canvas. This is important to me because painting is time I can set aside for just myself to reflect and relax. It is also important to who I am because I have gotten in trouble in the past for not keeping it on the canvas, so incorporating it into my life in a more consistent way would allow me to tap into that craving I had in the first place.
So for my Free Inquiry I will be painting canvases inspired by things that I come across or artists I am inspired by.
Come back to see what canvases I have to share!
This is where Assignment 2: Educational Technology Resource Development will be presented when complete.
